Ok…time to up the gears or should I say down the gears, as it's time for a bit of climbing!
As ye may know in Askeaton we are at sea level. I have planned to cycle to the highest point in Limerick, Knockfierna hill (42ft short of a mountain). Not taking away from calling it just a hill, it has one of the best climbs around west Limerick. A lot of history here in this area so google Knockfierna so you will have a good idea of the area that your cycling around.
This spin is a few levels above my previous cycles so beware & bring on the climbing legs. Depending on the weather, dress for the climate & remember climbing you will get warm & at the coffee stop you will need a few light layers as you may get a chill.
My name is Mary. I am involved in the local Askeaton Touring Club. I love leisure cycling. I believe cycling is for every ability, so please come and enjoy!
Today's spin started with the coffee stop! The fog came down just as we were ready to go, so the group on H&S grounds decided to do coffee/tea & scones first! It didn't take much convincing! So by 10.30am the route was changed to take out the climb & stay closer to home & on the quiet roads. So the Ballysteen Cappagh Route was undertaken. Everyone enjoyed the spin & thanks to James for the scones. Till our next spin out, safe cycling!
