Description

We will depart the car park at the Arches Bar and continue to Mallow Bridge. Crossing over the bridge, we will take the Park road to the junction at West End. From here we will avoid the main road by taking the road on to Shortcastle street and lower Beecher St. We will then join the main Cork to Limerick road at the roundabout junction at Beecher St. continuing to New Two Pot House crossroads. Here we will leave the main road, going right for Doneraile. Arriving in the main street, we will hopefully avail of coffee/tea in Doneraile House tea rooms.

Suitably refreshed, we will take Convent Rd. out of Doneraile, travelling on a nice country road through agricultural land to Hazelwood/Old twopothouse crossroads. Rejoining the New Twopothouse/Doneraile rd. continuing back to New Two Pot House and returning to Mallow by our outward bound route. Arriving back at the Arches Bar/restaurant, where coffee and a good chat and craic will be had on the terrace.

A bit like train, planes and automobiles as participants literally arrived by train, cars and bikes! Weather as always was great.  We had three new participants.  One, an old friend, had everyone in stitches before we even started out. Two of the new participants voiced their concerns about if they could keep up with everyone, but had no problems as they set the pace themselves and were well able. Everyone had a great time and loved the route and Doneraile park. We made a slight incursion into the Park, after coffee at Doneraile Court, to give everyone a snapshot of what the park is like and has to offer. A fantastic day but hard work. Even with a competent and able support leader, a large group of mixed abilities and experience is definitely hard work. However we maintained the craic, laughter and banter throughout the day culminating in more coffee for some at the end. And of course, everyone wants to do the next one!
