This looped route is very flat and comprises of mostly left turns. We head out the Monasterevin Road cycling through Kilberry, then take the second left after the little bridge at Cloney. This brings us onto a much quieter road as we approach Vicarstown.
We take a left at the bridge in Vicarstown down onto the Canal towpath for a scenic 6km with the Canal to our right. Leaving the towpath we continue for approx 1.5km before taking a left turn and crossing the river Barrow, this road leads us back up to the main Monasterevin to Athy road.
The road divides into two lanes as we approach the Junction, here we will need to move to the right lane before stopping at the junction. This is our only right turn on the route before returning to Athy for a well deserved cup of coffee!
*Don't forget to bring money for coffee.
If your bike has not been serviced in a while, I would recommend bringing it to your local bike shop for a quick once over.
I am an enthusiastic leisure cyclist who loves getting out in the fresh air and exploring the countryside on my bike. I would like to encourage cyclists of all abilities to join me on a social spin where nobody gets left behind.
Michal and Jay thanks for joining me today on my inaugural AXA Community Bike Ride. What a great day we had for it!
