We will be starting at the very back car park of the Centra shop in Carrigtwohill. We exit the car park and turn right, heading west to the FOTA road (R624) over Belvelly bridge and turning left passing the beautifully restored castle. 300 meters past it, we turn left along the scenic route to Marlogue woods. After exiting the woods car park, we return a kilometre of road we travelled and turn left for a few kilometres towards the village of Ballymore where we can have a coffee from the High Chaperal Pub. When we leave, we turn left downhill to Cuskinny beach where we can have a short stop and then turn right for the Tay road, passing the nature reserve as we do. One kilometre along this road we turn right up a very steep hill for 500 meters called Ballydulea hill where we cross a staggered four cross roads and continue down a very steep hill on the other side to join up with the coastal road we travelled earlier in the cycle. We turn left back towards Belvelly bridge and back to Carrigtwohill.

I’m an enthusiastic leisure cyclist keen to see more people cycling in my area. I have a new found love of cycling greenways and now roads thanks to being a past participant of AXA Community Bike Rides near and far.
A fantastic sunny morning was had and the challenging cycling was successfully finished with a great coffee stop experience for the first time on this new route. We had the unfortunate situation where we had one cyclist experienced two punctures at two different parts of the route but fair play to everyone for being helpful and supportive of the repair, even though it caused us to be delayed. All made it back home safe and well after a mostly enjoyable cycle that increased people's cycling fitness with some steep hills that are unavoidable on that Island.
