After a safety check and route briefing, we will depart the Centra car park, turning right onto the N25 for a short distance (100 mtrs), to the traffic lights. Turning right onto the R632, we will travel on this road for approx 7km, cycling through the village of Ladysbridge to Garryvoe beach. Turning right with the road we continue west in the direction of Shanagarry. In Shanagarry, at the junction for Ballycotton, we continue westerly, taking the R629. Remaining on the R629 for approx 3km, we arrive at the rear gate to Ballymaloe House. Here, we leave the road, and cycle up the rear driveway to Ballymaloe house. Dismounting from our bikes, we discover the cafe only just opened and avail of coffee/tea and scones. Or simply whatever tempting treats are on offer!
Suitably refreshed, with a bit of chat and craic thrown in, we depart Ballymaloe via the main gate, turning right and east, onto the L3818. We cycle for about 2 or 3km and ver left onto a side road and the only real hill on the route, cycling via this road to Ladysbridge. Rejoining the R632, we cycle the remaining 2km to our start point. Here, for those in need of another coffee and chat, we can avail of coffee or tea from the Centra shop before we depart for home.

I enjoy cycling as a recreational sport and as a family activity. Cycling is a low impact way to stay fit and experience the open air that's suitable for everyone. I am involved in a local Cycling Club, hold a Coaching qualification and coach our Youth members.
Our luck held with the weather! All prepared with wet gear just in case but a window opened up for us just as we set off. Everyone settled in quite happily for the first leg of the trip. Overcast and grey initially, but a clearance to brighter weather before we finished.
We had a quick stop at Garryvoe beach for a photo op and to breathe in the sea air. Then on to Ballymaloe cafe for tea, coffee, scones and sausage rolls. The food and coffee were good and we had quite a leisurely hour at this stop. Time doesn't wait for no man so it was time to resume our bike ride back to Castlemartyr. The craic and chat resumed and before we knew it we were back at the start. Everyone was happy with the spin and the weather!
