This trip is a “figure of 8” loop around Clarinbridge, which gives us the flexibility to cut it shorter a bit or extend it a bit, depending on the weather.
Starting from the school in Clarinbridge we will cycle through the village turning right at the water tower towards Athenry. We will pass through Casey's Cross and turn left towards Oranmore at the Green Briar. We will then cycle to the roundabout at Oranmore, turning left to take us back to Clarinbridge. We will continue through Clarinbridge and on to Kilcolgan where we will stop at Keane's Garden Centre for a coffee break, having completed about 21km. Don't forget to bring some money for coffee and cake!
After the coffee break, we will continue on through Kilcolgan and turn left towards Killeeneen. About 2km down this road we will again turn left and cross the Dunkellin river via the now-restored Dunkellin bridge. After another couple of km, we will turn left to bring us through Kilcornan and back to Clarinbridge for a total distance of about 29km.
I've been cycling for over 20 years both individually and as part of a cycling club. I've really enjoyed cycling in a group, both the exercise and the social side. I'd like to help others in the locality to get out on their bikes and get that enjoyment as well. Nothing too strenuous and guaranteed to include some decent coffee stops along the way!
