Starting from the school in Clarinbridge we head south and take the first left after Kilcolgan. We then turn right and travel along the “dark road”. At the end of this road, we turn left and travel to Craughwell where we will stop off for coffee at Chef’s Café where we stopped off once before on a previous trip! Chef’s Café are currently doing a takeaway-only service, but they have some benches outside. Don't forget to bring some money for coffee and cake!
After the coffee stop we will continue past Chef’s Café and under the narrow railway bridge to avoid the notorious railway tracks on the far side of Craughwell. We will make our way back to Clarinbridge with a couple of twists and turns along the way coming back through Casey’s Cross and the water tower for a total distance of about 32km.

I've been cycling for over 20 years both individually and as part of a cycling club. I've really enjoyed cycling in a group, both the exercise and the social side. I'd like to help others in the locality to get out on their bikes and get that enjoyment as well. Nothing too strenuous and guaranteed to include some decent coffee stops along the way!
After a lot of wet weather recently, it was great to have a sunny morning for our latest spin. We travelled from Clarinbridge to Craughwell via the “dark road” stopping off for coffee at the lovely Chef’s café. The weather gods were kind to us as the one heavy shower arrived just as we stopped for coffee. The sun reappeared once again so we had our coffee break on the benches outside following which we made the return journey to Clarinbridge.
Overall stats for the spin:
Cycling duration: 1 hr 55 mins
Total duration: 2 hr 40 mins
