Description

Starting from the school in Clarinbridge we travel through Kilcornan, and on to Casey’s Cross, turning right to bring us down to the former Green Briar.  There we turn left and travel to the Athenry Golf course.  From there we cycle up to the Monivea road, turn right and then take a right turn towards Athenry passing by Castle Lambert and bringing us into Athenry for coffee at around 25km.  Don't forget to bring some money for coffee and cake, and don’t forget to bring a face mask.

After the coffee break, we will head back towards Derrydonnell, taking the left turn towards Clarinbridge after we go under the motorway, bringing us back to the Green Briar. From there we travel on to Casey’s Cross, we turn left and then take the next right bringing us through Kilcornan and back to our starting point in Clarinbridge for a total duration of about 40km. A slightly longer spin than usual!

About

I've been cycling for over 20 years both individually and as part of a cycling club. I've really enjoyed cycling in a group, both the exercise and the social side. I'd like to help others in the locality to get out on their bikes and get that enjoyment as well. Nothing too strenuous and guaranteed to include some decent coffee stops along the way!

Our longest spin to date.  A little bit misty at the start but heated up nicely as the morning went on and finished in beautiful sunshine.  Great coffee and scones as always at the Barracks restaurant in Athenry.

Overall stats for the spin:

Distance: 43km

Average Speed: 21 km/hr

Cycling duration: 2 hours and 2 minutes

Total duration: 2 hours and 45 minutes
