Starting from the school in Clarinbridge, we cycle to Kilcolgan where we turn right and cycle to Ballinderreen. We turn left in the middle of the village and cycle past the GAA pitch and Blake Manor Nursing Home, continuing on for about 5km to the end of the road. We then turn left and immediately right, cycling parallel to the motorway. We take another left as we head over the motorway and into Labane. We turn left yet again in Labane, which takes us to Ardrahan, where we will stop at 'Emma Jane’s Coffee Hut', having completed about 18km.  Don't forget to bring some money for coffee and cake. Coffee will be outdoors so bring an extra layer to avoid getting cold.

After the coffee break, we will head across the road travelling towards Craughwell, taking a left turn to bring us along the dark road. At the end of the dark road, we turn right and take the next left to bring us up to Madden’s Forge. We carry on from there across the Dunkellin River, turning left to bring us in through Kilcornan and back to our starting point at Clarinbridge school for a total distance of about 34km.

As the mornings are getting a bit darker, bring bike lights if you can. Also, while we will always hope for fine weather, mudguards are a good idea in case of rain/wet roads.

I've been cycling for over 20 years both individually and as part of a cycling club. I've really enjoyed cycling in a group, both the exercise and the social side. I'd like to help others in the locality to get out on their bikes and get that enjoyment as well. Nothing too strenuous and guaranteed to include some decent coffee stops along the way!

A smaller group out today, reflecting the time of year. It started out a bit misty but turned out to be a nice day overall. Our first visit to Emma Jane's coffee hut in Ardrahan which is a really fabulous setup providing great coffee, cake and shelter. They have also introduced a €5 special - coffee and scone/cake for cyclists. We'll definitely be back!

Some lovely tree-lined roads on the route today with very beautiful autumnal scenery.
