Leaving from Scoil Mhuire, Clarinbridge, we are going to head south to Kilcolgan where we will turn left towards Craughwell. We will cycle through Killeeneen and alongside the Rahasane Turlough, the largest surviving turlough in Ireland and a special area of conservation.
Just before we arrive in Craughwell, we will take a right turn which will bring us on a scenic route to Chef's Cafe in Craughwell for a well earned cup of coffee and a slice of something nice! Don't forget to bring some money for the coffee shop.
After the coffee break, we will climb the hill through Craughwell village on the road to Oranmore. The train tracks cross the road near Craughwell at a dangerous angle so we will get off the bikes and walk across these tracks before continuing on our journey.
Once we cross over the motorway, we will turn left at the Green Briar towards Clarinbridge, travelling on through Casey's Cross arriving in Clarinbridge at the water tower. We turn left there bringing us back to our starting point at Scoil Mhuire.
I've been cycling for over 20 years both individually and as part of a cycling club. I've really enjoyed cycling in a group, both the exercise and the social side. I'd like to help others in the locality to get out on their bikes and get that enjoyment as well. Nothing too strenuous and guaranteed to include some decent coffee stops along the way!
Lovely morning for a spin. Cycled from Clarinbridge to Craughwell via Kilcolgan. Coffee stop at Chef's cafe in Craughwell where we bumped into the legendary Sean Kelly and his large entourage also stopping off for a coffee. Good morning for Chef's cafe! Popular spot with lovely coffee, cakes and scones.
After the stop we cycled back towards Oranmore with the wind at our backs, turning left at the Green Briar arriving back in Clarinbridge around 11:40.
