Description

Starting from Kilcornan House (note the new starting location, just beside the arch at the house), we cycle out the back gate of Kilcornan and turn right, travelling past Madden’s Forge until we get to the L4502. We turn left here going over the motorway and cycle to the end of this road where we turn left for Craughwell. On arriving at Craughwell, we turn left and cycle through the village. At the railway tracks, we take the right turn for Athenry. We cycle on to Athenry and stop for coffee at the 'Old Barracks' restaurant, having travelled about 23km. Don't forget to bring some money for coffee and cake. Coffee will be outdoors so bring an extra layer to avoid getting cold.

After the coffee break, we cycle back to our starting point via the former Green Briar pub, turning left at Casey’s Cross to bring us back to Kilcornan for a total distance of about 36km. As the mornings are still a bit dark, bring bike lights if you can. Also, while we will always hope for fine weather, mudguards are a good idea in case of rain/wet roads.

About

I've been cycling for over 20 years both individually and as part of a cycling club. I've really enjoyed cycling in a group, both the exercise and the social side. I'd like to help others in the locality to get out on their bikes and get that enjoyment as well. Nothing too strenuous and guaranteed to include some decent coffee stops along the way!
