We meet at the front door of The Coachmans Inn, Cloghran. We will start off on the hill to Old Stockhole Lane, continue from Baskin to Kinsealy Church and then gallop down to Portmarnock raceway. We make our way around by the railway station, then hop on the 'greenway' to Baldoyle. We continue straight on past the Elphin to the seafront at Clontarf Road, before making a left towards Sutton Cross and yes, you guessed it - we take a right here and climb up to Howth Summit! It's a long slow climb, but it's not a race and we will stick together to encourage and support each other and don't worry, we only go as fast as our slowest rider - which could very well be me, seriously!

We will be rewarded with a wonderful view from the summit (fingers crossed) followed by a short and steep descent down to Howth Harbour. We take it really slow through Howth Village - you will see the church on your left, and there will be pedestrians and traffic manoeuvers to contend with. There are cars parked on both sides of the road, so leave yourself plenty of room, in case of any doors suddenly open! Non stop, we ride past Howth Castle and onto Sutton Cross for some mince pies and gingerbread lattés.

Suitably refreshed, we head home past Sutton Station, the Baldoyle greenway and the coast roads of Portmarnock, Malahide and Broadmeadows estuary. We continue to Swords Business Park, Mountgorry and finish back where we started. Be sure to bring your own drink and maybe an energy bar to keep you going.

Cycling 5 years in Fingal & a few holidays across Europe - most recently the Moselle wine valley & Bavarian Brewery Bike tour! In 2018, I took up the Cycling Ireland #2828challenge which led me to joining a club and completing a handful of sportives over the last year. Still learning and still enjoying the leisurely aspect whilst sharing a common interest, with new friends, plenty of coffee, cake and ice-cream!
