We will meet for our cycle at the entrance to the car park on the R741 (Old Dublin Road) at The Frying Irishman/Ballyelland Pottery in Castlebridge opposite Wexford Block.
We leave the car park and turn left onto the R741. After about 1km, we reach Ballymartin Crossroads where we turn left. We stop after a short distance at the T-junction and turn right. We ride for about 5kms on this quiet road and when we reach Ballybeg Crossroads we turn left. There are a few gentle hills at this section and after around 3kms we reach the village of Ballymurn. We continue down the hill in Ballymurn towards the village of Glenbrien. After 3kms there is a Grotto on our left and here we will stop for a short water break. As we cycle along this small country road, there are very good views of The Blackstairs Mountains in the distance on the right. After 2.5kms we reach the Motorway overpass at Riverview, where we turn left. There are fine views of Forth Mountain from this road, as we pass through Roperstown and Coolanickbeg (Cúl an Chnoic Beag). After about 5.5kms we arrive at the main N11 where we stop and turn left. This is just before Oylegate.
There are traffic lights at the junction in Oylegate, so special care is necessary. We will stop and take a break for water or coffee at the filling station just after the village on our left.
After the break, we will continue down the N11 for 4.5km towards Wexford town. At Kyle Cross, we turn left and after 1.5kms we come into Crossabeg. At the junction in Crossabeg, the road takes a sharp turn to the right and we have the right of way. We carry on along this road, passing Artramon House on the left, and the recently developed site of St. Brigid’s Well and the Norman Tower House on the right. There are excellent views of The Slaney Estuary from here as we cycle the final 4kms to Castlebridge. We pass Edenvale Woods on the left and we need to pay close attention here as there is a steep hill down to the bridge over the Sow River.
From here, we ride the final kilometre into Castlebridge. At the stop sign at The Frying Irishman, we take a left, and the car park is about 100m up this road on our left.

I live in Castlebridge in Co. Wexford and I am a keen leisure cyclist. I try to get out as often as possible and enjoy cycling mostly within my own locality. I would love to see more people out on their bikes, taking advantage of all the health and social benefits that cycling has to offer.
