Description

Amazin Kerry Head, breathtaking views from mountains to the rugged coastline of the wild Atlantic, this route will bring us from our beloved Ballybunion towards the amazing Cashen river, once we cross over the Cashen we will take the nice quiet road alongside the Cashen river bank, a small stop to take in the views over the Ballybunion famous links golf club. Up we go away from the banks towards Causeway. Halfway around we will have a welcome coffee stop in another seaside town - Ballyheigue. Coffee/Tea over and we've the serious climb. 4km later we will take a quick stop to recover but most important enjoy the amazing views, backdrop of Mount Brandon (6th highest mountain in Ireland), Castlegegory, Fenit & Banna beaches. Away we go after that last climb, we have recovery time, overlooking our destination Ballybunion, we will take the “WAW” route (Wild Atlantic Way!) back to our final stop Ballybunion. Tough cycle but rewarding.

I'm on a mini-break to Ballybunion so leading two pop-up rides there this weekend. Hope you can join me on this bike ride!

Today's spin was, lets just say, a tad blustery, BUT a huge thank you to all that turned up. With the wind and how severe it was we decided to reduce our route to 35km. After a few photo stops and a helping hand now and again between the group, everyone arrived back safe and sound in Ballybunion to enjoy tea/coffee and scones! Well done everyone, a fantastic group to cycle with! Till our next spin out, safe cycling…
