Kilkenny - City Street Spin

At the Hurling Monument: Canal Square, Kilkenny City

All Bikes

A easy pace with a mixture of road and off-road cycling starting along the Canal walk by the river Nore in the shadow of Kilkenny castle, Bennettsbridge Road, Nuncio Road, Waterford Road, Coote’s Lane, Roberts Hill, some lane ways over to Stephen's Street and back onto the road to the Sycamores, along the river bank known as Linear Walk, Riverside Drive, more laneways onto Dean Street over the Francis Abbey Bridge, onto the Quay over the Lady Desart Bridge up through the city centre and back to the Canal Square. We’ll then enjoy coffee and cake at the Flaky Tart!

Any type of bike is suitable as long as it's in good working order. Please make sure you wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.  It's a good idea to check your tyres are fully inflated before you set off. Soft tyres make pedalling hard! You may wish to bring a spare tube in case of a puncture. Also remember your money for the coffee stop and a lock may be useful as we will probably end up sitting inside.

Since 2006, I have been a recreational and utility cyclist and I have worked with Kilkenny Cycling Tours. I'm a tutor with southeast cycling safety, KRSP and Cycling Ireland. My aim is to get more people on bikes so they can enjoy the health benefits it has to offer.

Great turnout today for the first spin, a little windy but very enjoyable. The coffee and scones were quite nice at the Flaky Tart.
