This ride will mark the beginning of Bike Week 2019. We will be starting at dusk on Mid Summer Night, the 21st June, meeting at the Car Park of The Rainbow Hall, in Kilmacthomas. The group will cycle towards Dungarvan, at a gentle pace along the Waterford Greenway, and return to Kilmacthomas in darkness. If you have lights bring them with you. If you have never ridden the Greenway at night, this will be thee perfect opportunity for you!
As this is a night ride, please wear lots of layers to keep warm.
I have ridden bikes all my live, mainly for transport. In recent years, I enjoy cycling as a hobby and pastime.
Our ride started at 9pm as the sun was going down behind the Comeragh Mountains. We had a mixed group with some club cyclists, ranging to a French exchange student, on a borrowed bike. As we rode out along the Waterford Greenway, dusk was quickly approaching, and by the time we reached the Ballyvoille Tunnel all lights were on. Stopping for a photo, we were visited by bats trying to work out why we were out so late. Continuing onto Dungarvan, where we had a break, before returning to Kilmacthomas at Midnight.
