This route will take us out the Sion Road to Maddoxtown, Dunbell, Gowran and Bennettsbridge. From there we will head on to Wallslough across to Grovine, carry on to the main Waterford Kilkenny Road, we will stay on the hard shoulder until we reach Springhill Hotel where the spin will finish up and we can all enjoy a coffee and a chat.
Any type of bike is suitable as long as it's in good working order. Please make sure you wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions and have a working set of lights. It's a good idea to check your tyres are fully inflated before you set off. Soft tyres can make the ride more challenging and often leads to punctures. Also, remember your money for the coffee stop and a lock may be useful as we will probably end up sitting inside.
Since 2006, I have been a recreational and utility cyclist and I have worked with Kilkenny Cycling Tours. I'm a tutor with southeast cycling safety, KRSP and Cycling Ireland. My aim is to get more people on bikes so they can enjoy the health benefits it has to offer.
It rained all afternoon but at 6.30 it cleared up, unfortunately some of the participants that signed up for the spin cancelled which left just three of us on this midweek spin. We enjoyed the quiet country roads and the sun even broke out from the clouds to add some pleasure to the spin!
