This is a looped route out to Vicarstown via the Monasterevin Road and back by the Canal towpath. We will cycle out through Kilberry village and take the next left after Cloney bridge onto a quieter road. This road brings us over the Barrow and down into Vicarstown.
In Vicarstown we will take the left turn at the bridge and follow the canal towpath for some 6km. We will need to be aware that there may be pedestrians and other road users out enjoying the towpath.
We have the right of way at the end of the towpath, however you will need to be wary of traffic approaching from the right. We will continue along this road for another 500m before turning left and crossing back over the Barrow. This road leads up back to the Monastervin Road.
Taking the right turn, we head back to Athy for a well deserved cup of coffee and maybe some cake!
*Don't forget money for coffee stop
