Description

Is there anything nicer than spinning along a countryside road, on a bright, dry, crisp Autumn day?

The Autumn series of cycles offers four bike rides in very different locations. Each with it's own challenge, these bikes rides are an opportunity to explore areas that you may not be particularly familiar with. The individual routes are all stunning in their own right. Yet again, I find myself saying “Aren't we the luckiest people alive, getting to live where we live?” - So, who's in? Who fancies a 'Micro Adventure' on a Saturday morning?

Piercestown - Tacumshane - Tomhaggard

At the T-Junction, we turn left past the church and on down the L3042 towards the Kilmore road. We take the right hand turn here and cycle all the way down until we reach Ballycogley. Here we take a left hand turn and cycle over towards Ballymore and Montfields crossroads. We continue straight through and follow the road all the way to the cross of Greenfield where we take a left hand turn and cycle all the way over to the cross of Twelveacre. We go right here and cycle down as far as Broadway. We take a left hand turn here and this road takes us on to Tacumshane. Passing through and following the road along, we take a left hand turn after the church field into the fairy lane which will eventually take us to Tomhaggard. In the village of Tomhaggard, we take a right hand turn onto the L3055 and cycle straight through the next crossroads and again straight through another crossroads taking us up into Mayglass. Cycling up through the village, we keep right and head over along the L3045 which eventually takes us back out onto the Kilmore road, the R739 which we cycle along for a short distance before taking the 2nd left hand turn to take us back up into Piercestown.

Our coffee stop today will be 20 minutes approx. You will notice that I haven't included a particular stop in the cycle. I am open to suggestions on this one. I thought we might make the short trip to Our Lady's Island or perhaps there's somewhere else that one of you participants can recommend?

New faces always welcome!

About

I love my bike! I love adventure, being outside in the fresh air, on the move, all year round. I love how it makes me feel - Alive! I honestly believe the best experiences are shared experiences which is why I decided to register to become a Ride Leader. I want to share the 'Feel Good' with as many people as possible. We will never be as young again as we are now, let's give it a go and see what happens!

Autumn has arrived for sure. It was a little blustery to start today, but it was very mild and the early morning rain had passed over. Today's spin was very pleasant with a bit of a re-route to ensure the all important coffee stop. 'Karoo' at Killinick with all it's latest additions, including outdoor dining space with a fabulous mural. The windmill at Tacumshane is currently being worked on. We will return another day for a look inside.
