This week we are back to Cashel, departing from the car park at The Rock of Cashel. Heading down to Ladyswell we take a right, down Canopy Street then south on the Main Street, up Boherclough Street and onto the Cahir Road. At the motorway roundabouts, we will take a left at the second roundabout and on to the Old Road (part of the pilgrim path St. Declan's Way) as far as the Common's Cross. Riding through the crossroad we make our way past the back of Ballydoyle Racing and on as far as Lough Ceant. Here we take a left and then cycle through Caddlestown, passing the Old IRA memorial then reaching the Cashel - Clonmel Road east of Rosegreen. Leaving the very quiet country roads behind we take a left and head for the village, passing the gallops and front gates of Ballydoyle Stables on the way. In the centre of the village we take a left and feewheel down the hill and make our way back to the Common's Cross where we turn right and back to Cashel. On reaching the motorwayway roundabouts we take another right and back in by Spafield, passing Cashel Rugby Club and down into town to finish off with a nice sociable coffee!
I joined the Cashel Rock Pedallers in 2014. Since then I built up my distances, from an initial 5km in 2016, completing a 170km on the 2012 Olympics Road Race Course! I have also completed many more Sportives, including all four Great Dublin Bike Rides. If I can do it at nearly 70, so can you!
